Nyhart is looking for a candidate to provide expertise and consulting support with the design, management, administration, and communication of retirement plans.

The Consultant will:

  • Provide high quality and timely calculations, valuations, and other deliverables to clients
  • Assist in developing relationships and new business
  • Mentor and train associate staff

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics, Finance or related field
  • 7-10 years of pension consulting experience
  • ASA and EA required; FSA designation preferred

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong analytical, creative thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to manage a set of clients to ensure timely and proactive consulting
  • Experience with supporting new business generation
  • Public plan experience a plus

Operations Analyst

Healthcare Actuary

Atlanta, Indianapolis, or San Diego

Nyhart provides actuarial consulting services to a broad array of healthcare clients. We are looking for an ASA to assist in project management and review in Atlanta, Indianapolis, or San Diego. This position provides excellent opportunities for professional development and growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Actuarial funding valuation, accounting valuation, and compliance for postemployment benefit plans
  • Analysis of defined benefit and defined contribution retiree healthcare plans
  • Cost projection and analysis
  • Manage client relationships

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Math, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years of actuarial experience
  • Successful completion of 4 or more SOA exams required, ASA preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel

Plan Analyst

San Diego

Retirement plans require a great deal of effort and expertise to administer. Each plan is unique and can have thousands of participants, each with individual data and needs. We are looking for candidates who can learn quickly and assume additional responsibilities at a rapid pace.

This role requires a unique blend of aptitude for detail-oriented analysis, high-level problem solving, and healthy communication skills. Our work uses a team-based approach with constant peer interaction. Communication with individuals outside the company begins as experience is gained.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong understanding of benefit plan operation across a variety of clients and designs
  • Apply analytical skills to prepare and review individual benefit calculations
  • Organize and analyze participant data, checking for inconsistencies and identifying next steps
  • Learn to interpret plan documents – a legal document which governs the administration of the plan
  • Assist with special projects, such as plan terminations, lump sum windows, and software conversions
  • Analyze and improve internal processes and procedures to increase accuracy, consistency, and efficiency
  • Consult with clients regarding benefit administration, including regulations, plan documents, data, and calculations

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in math, economics, finance, or related field
  • Excellent math, analytical, and organization skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle several projects at a time; daily activity is divided across multiple types of projects
  • Advanced Excel skills
