Nyhart developed the Alternate Method Actuarial Calculator to help public agencies meet their financial reporting requirements under GASB 45. It was our goal to make the GASB 45 process as quick and painless as possible. The process to use the calculator is relatively easy:
* 1. Prepare the census information to be uploaded
* 2. Enter your contact information
* 3. Enter descriptions for the employee groups included in the data
* 4. Enter your premium and retiree contribution schedules
* 5. Enter the retirement eligibilities for retiree health coverage
* 6. Enter your accounting period and other accounting information
The Alternate Method Actuarial Calculator will only handle retiree medical benefits calculations (subsidized or unsubsidized). If you offer dental and vision benefits to the retirees but they pay the full cost of coverage you can also use this Calculator. The calculator will produce a disclosure report that is reviewed by a credentialed actuary. It will then be released and a conference call scheduled to review the results with you.
The user fee for the calculator is $1,400 and must be approved by you prior to releasing the final report.
