Nyhart Commences 2011 Indiana Health Care Benefit Survey

Study will reveal impact of health care reform & economy stress for Hoosier employers

April 13, 2011 (Indianapolis) – Nyhart, one of the nation’s largest independent actuarial and employee benefits consulting firms, has commenced the second annual review of their Indiana Health Care Benefit Survey to evaluate and provide benchmarks to Indiana companies for their health care benefits.

“This study will set a benchmark for Hoosier employers to determine the competitiveness of their healthcare benefit as legislative reform and economic pressure make health care benefits a large expense for employers,” said lead researcher Randy Gomez, FSA. “By participating in the study, HR and Finance executives will get a clear understanding how their employee health care benefit costs and features compare to other Indiana companies.”

Who can participate?
Companies based in Indiana with a minimum of 50 full-time employees participating in an existing health care benefit. There is no cost for a company to complete the survey.

How to participate?
A company HR or benefit executive can download the survey form from the Nyhart web site (Click here to download the survey or upload your responses). The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. The information provided by the company will remain confidential.

Participate in the survey

All companies who participate will be given a free executive report that includes:

  • Benchmarks for the cost of health care benefits compared to other companies by size, geography and industry
  • Benchmarks for which features are included by size, geography and industry
  • Trends and impacts for Indiana employers in offering health care benefits

The results of the survey will be released in early summer, once Nyhart’s team of actuaries and healthcare benefit researchers can evaluate the data. Last year’s study included data from more than 100 Hoosier firms.

“This survey is one of the many ways Nyhart is leveraging our experience working with more than 1,000 clients in 48 states to provide insights to the industry,” said Nyhart CEO Tom Totten. In December of 2010, Nyhart released the 2010 401(k) Retirement Readiness Study.
